Revered Swami Kirtidanandaji

(Served Ramakrishna Mission, Aalo as Secretary from 1969 to 1973)

Swami Kirtidanandaji (Srikanta Maharaj) passed away on 9 June 2007 at 5 pm at Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital, Bangalore, owing to cardiac arrest.  He was 82 and had been suffering from various old-age ailments for some years.  An initiated disciple of Swami Virajanandaji Maharaj, he joined the Order at Bangalore Math in 1946 and had Sannyasa from Swami Shankaranandaji Maharaj in 1957.  Besides his joining centre, he served at Colombo (Sri Lanka), Advaita Ashrama (both at Mayavati and its Kolkata branch), Institute of Culture (Kolkata), Chennai Mission Ashrama, Kalimpong (our branch centre at that time) and Saradapitha centres.  He was the editor of Prabuddha Bharata, and head of Aalo (Along), Chennai Students’ Home and Chandigarh centres.  He was also sent to Harare (Zimbabwe) in 1991 to explore the possibility of starting a centre there.  He had been leading a retired life at Ulsoor Math for the last ten years.  The Swami was a scholar and has contributed several articles in our periodicals.  Sri T N Chaturvedi, Governor of Karnataka, and several others came to Ulsoor Math to pay their last respects to him.

Revered Swami Siddharthanandaji

Swami Siddharthanandaji  (Divyangshu Maharaj) :

Swami Siddharthananda (Divyangshu), aged 75, passed away on 3 August 2003 at 11.10 p.m. at Varanasi Home of Service.  He had been suffering for a long time from high blood pressure and chronic renal failure.  Initiated by Swami Shankaranandaji Maharaj, he joined the Order at Advaita Ashrama, Calcutta, in 1955 and had sannyasa from Swami Madhavanandaji Maharaj in 1965.  Besides his joining centre, he served at Mayavati, Saradapitha (Belur), Purulia, Bombay and Kankurgachhi centres.  He was the head of Along centre for two years.  He became head of Japan centre after its affiliation in 1984 and remained in that post for nine years.  He had been leading a retired life for the last ten years, first at Belur Math and finally at Varanasi Home of Service.  The Swami was gentle and quiet by nature.

Revered Swami Sumedhanandaji

Swami Sumedhananda (Sujit Maharaj) passed away on 22 December 2010 at 10.20 pm at Seva Pratishthan.  He was 66 and had been suffering from hypertension and diabetes for some years.  On the fateful day he complained of severe discomfort and was immediately rushed to Seva Pratishthan where he passed away on that night itself owing to massive heart attack.  Initiated by Swami Vireshwaranandaji Maharaj, he joined the Order in 1965 at Advaita Ashrama, Kolkata, and had Sannyasa from his Guru in 1975.  Besides his joining centre, he served at Headquarters and Seva Pratishthan as assistant and at Malda, Cherrapunji, Agartala and Aalo (Along) centres as head.  He was a sevak of Swami Vireshwaranandaji Maharaj and the secretary of Swami Gambhiranandaji Maharaj for a few years.  He participated in relief and rehabilitation work at Malda in 1981-82.  He was convener of a sub-committee for Swamiji’s 150th birth anniversary commemoration and was actively looking after its affairs at the celebration office at Belur Math.  The Swami was dynamic, austere and hardworking by nature.
